INN: levothyroxine sodium
The drug influences development and growth of tissues, and metabolism. In small doses has anabolic effect on protein and lipid exchange. In medium dosages stimulates the growth and development, raises requirement of tissues for oxygen, stimulates metabolism of proteins, lipids and carbohydrates, and enhances functional activity of the cardiovascular system and central nervous system. In large doses suppresses generation of thyrotropin-releasing hormone of the hypothalamus and thyrotropic hormone of the hypophysis.
